Alternative energy sources will be used at the “ASAN Service” Centers
On November 2, 2024, a presentation ceremony was held at the ASAN Service centers as a part of the project on “Transition to Alternative Energy Sources”. The ceremony was attended by Ulvi Mehdiyev, Chairman of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Mukhtar Babayev, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, who is also the designated president of COP29.
It was emphasized that the initiatives implemented within the framework of 2024, declared by President Ilham Aliyev as the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World” are carried out with particular attention to ecological sustainability and the importance of green technologies. Moreover, Azerbaijan places special importance on the 5th priority of the 2030 National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development, which is “Clean Environment and Green Growth”.
Additionally, innovative ecological initiatives are being implemented by “ASAN Service” in Azerbaijan to ensure a sustainable and green future.
The “ASAN Service” centers consume a total of 19 million kilowatt-hours of electricity. This fact makes it necessary to apply innovative solutions to meet energy demand in a sustainable manner.
Consequently, the State Agency has launched the “Transition to alternative energy sources in ASAN Service Centers” project.
Initially, solar panels have been installed on the roof of Baku “ASAN Service” center No. 7 as part of the project. The building’s electricity needs will be met through renewable and cost-saving solar panels that also contribute to the power grid.
The project is planned for implementation in the administrative buildings and parking areas of all “ASAN Service” centers soon.
Using solar energy and the application of advanced technologies will significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions at the “ASAN Service” centers. This will create a cleaner and healthier environment for nearly 40 000 citizens who visit the centers daily.
At the same time, the project will contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals - “Affordable and Clean Energy”, “Sustainable Cities and Communities” and “Against Climate Change”.
