“ABAD” handicraft center has begun to operate


“ABAD” handicraft center has begun to operate on the 18th of March in order to implement the demonstration of products by newly joined “ABAD” families in the territory of the Old City State Historical-Architectural Reserve.

Decree 1047 issued by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on 23 September 2016 established “ABAD” public legal entity run the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The aim in establishment of “ABAD” public legal entity is implementation of social oriented projects via supporting social projects such citizens’ active participation in socio-economic life of the Republic of Azerbaijan, development of small and medium householders, increasing the level of employment and support the development of competitive family farms.

The priority directions of “ABAD” public legal entity is to support a decorative and applied handicraft and families engaged in the field of agriculture. For this purpose, 30 families have been chosen through the field of agriculture, 63 general handicrafts from Masally, Balaken, Ismayilli, Sheki and Baku.

Over 2000 art examples with 500 names by 63 families and regional products with 10 names by 5 families (jam, preserves, honey) will be on sale at the center established in the frame of support to social projects by the Old City State Historical-Architectural Reserve Office and Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).

All presented products carries the logos of the master, family farms, and labels of “ABAD”. This logo and label of “ABAD” highlights its originality.

“ABAD” cooperates with various international organizations, as well as, UNDP. In the frame of cooperation, in order to promote the involvement of families to the field of business, UNDP had financially supported a family with an equipped container for meat productions.

On November 2016, “ABAD” signed a cooperation agreement with SOCAR. According to the terms of agreement, SOCAR will support in establishment of next “ABAD” center in Balaken and 12 families with production containers with necessary equipment.
