Azerbaijani advanced public services were discussed at the UN’s international anti-corruption event


The 7th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption started in Vienna, Austria, on November 6. More than 1800 delegates representing 183 states, observer states, international organizations and non-governmental organizations are attending the Convention.

The Chairman of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Inam Karimov, Deputy of the Prosecutor-General of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Chief of the Anti-Corruption Department at the Prosecutor-General's Office, Kamran Aliyev, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Austria, Galib Israfilov and Secretary of the Commission on Combating Corruption of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Kamal Jafarov are representing the country at the session.

At the 7th session of the conference, discussions were held on mechanisms for controlling implementation of the UN Convention against Corruption, technical assistance, return of assets, preventive measures, international cooperation and other areas.

The head of the Azerbaijani delegation, Inam Karimov, spoke at the opening ceremony and mentioned about the reforms carried out under the leadership of the President Ilham Aliyev and state programs in our country. He pointed out that Azerbaijan is a venue for large-scale reforms, energy and transport projects of regional significance, stability, multiculturalism and high social well-being. In addition, he mentioned, that the country is ranked the 35th place in the World Economic Forum's 2017-2018 Global Competitiveness Report.

I. Karimov, by noting that the fight against corruption is a priority in the state policy, emphasized that our country possesses perfect anti-corruption legislation, as well as specialized bodies such as the Anti-Corruption Commission and Chief Prosecutor's Office for Combating Corruption at the Prosecutor General's Office. In addition, I.Karimov gave an information on the activities and successful projects of “ASAN service” centers, which established as an example of the reforms conducted by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.

At the end of the conference, “ASAN service” journals were expanded among the participants of the session.
