Azerbaijan has stepped up in “E-Government Development Index”
The UN conducts a survey once in two months, which is aimed to define the level of development among the world countries in the field e-government. Research on “E-Government Survey” is evaluated via two indexes, E-Government Development Index-EGDI and Participation Index –EPI.
According to the results of survey, Azerbaijan stepped up among 193 countries in EGDI by 2016 in comparison with 2014, and has reached 47th place by raise in 30 steps in EPI.
One of the main criteria in E-Government Development Index-EGDI, which contributed to the improvement of Azerbaijan is “Online Service Index”, that caused 58% rise in overall EDGI index. Also, according to the results of survey, there have been mentioned regarding the noteworthy development of Azerbaijan and Participation Index –EPI to be included to the first 50th place among the world countries.
Thus, according to the results, Azerbaijan left behind a number of different countries, including certain post-soviet countries too: China, Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and others. Should be noted, Armenia in accordance with the results of 2014 dropped by 26 steps in EGDI, and 25 steps in EPI.
The State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations emphasizes, that this improvement is a result of sustainable projects implemented in the field of state agencies in Azerbaijan, establishment of E-government and use of e-services in the framework of “ASAN service”, according to the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in recent years.
